Privacy Policy

GlassRead ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that detects AI-generated content on web pages. This privacy policy explains what data GlassRead collects, how it's used, and your rights.

What We Collect

When you click "Scan This Page," GlassRead collects:

• Page text content — The visible text on the current web page (up to 50,000 characters), sent to our detection API for analysis.
• Page URL and title — Used to display results in your scan history dashboard.

What We Don't Collect

• We do not collect browsing history or track which pages you visit.
• We do not collect personal information, login credentials, or form data.
• We do not collect cookies or session data from websites you visit.
• We do not run in the background or scan pages automatically — analysis only happens when you explicitly click "Scan This Page."
• We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data.

How Data Is Processed

When you scan a page:

• The page text is sent over HTTPS to our API server at glassread.polsia.app.
• Our server analyzes the text using AI detection models and returns sentence-level classifications.
• Scan results are stored on our server to power the scan history dashboard.
• Results are also cached locally in your browser's extension storage for quick access.

Data Storage

• Local storage: The most recent scan result is stored in Chrome's extension storage on your device. You can clear this anytime by clicking "Clear Highlights" in the extension popup.
• Server storage: Scan results (page URL, title, and detection results) are stored in our database to power the dashboard feature. No raw page text is retained after analysis.

Permissions Explained

GlassRead requests the following browser permissions:

• activeTab — Allows the extension to read text from the page you're currently viewing, only when you click "Scan This Page."
• storage — Allows the extension to save your most recent scan result locally for quick display.
• Host permission (glassread.polsia.app) — Allows the extension to communicate with our detection API.

Third-Party Services

GlassRead uses the following third-party service for AI detection:

• Anthropic Claude API — Text analysis is performed using Anthropic's language models. Text sent for analysis is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train models.

Data Retention

Scan results stored on our server are retained indefinitely to power the dashboard history feature. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us at glassread@polsia.app.

Children's Privacy

GlassRead is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
